Travel Notes: Queenstown — A Postcard Moment

The past two days are the reason I wanted to come to New Zealand

25 October 2005

Dear Family & Friends,

The past two days…
are the reason I wanted to come to New Zealand.

Yesterday:

  1. Franz Josef Glacier

  2. Fox Glacier, with views of Aoraki / Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain

  3. The Salmon Farm for lunch—where you get to feed the fish that will be someone else’s lunch down the road

  4. Thunder Creek Falls

  5. Queenstown

  6. A gondola ride to the Skyline Restaurant, with beautiful, gorgeous, breathtaking, awe-inspiring views

  • blue skies, sunshine, and no clouds

× 2 (today):

  1. Safari of the Rings — four hours visiting filming locations, plus gold panning (I got a fleck!). I gave it to our driver, who’s hoping to have enough gold by the end of summer to buy an ice-cream treat.

  2. Shotover River Jetwhoa! Adrenaline rush!!

Again, all under blue, cloudless skies and breathtaking vistas.

More later!

Love to all,
TJ
