Travel Notes: Queenstown — A Postcard Moment
The past two days are the reason I wanted to come to New Zealand
25 October 2005
Dear Family & Friends,
The past two days…
are the reason I wanted to come to New Zealand.
Yesterday:
Franz Josef Glacier
Fox Glacier, with views of Aoraki / Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain
The Salmon Farm for lunch—where you get to feed the fish that will be someone else’s lunch down the road
Thunder Creek Falls
Queenstown
A gondola ride to the Skyline Restaurant, with beautiful, gorgeous, breathtaking, awe-inspiring views
blue skies, sunshine, and no clouds
× 2 (today):
Safari of the Rings — four hours visiting filming locations, plus gold panning (I got a fleck!). I gave it to our driver, who’s hoping to have enough gold by the end of summer to buy an ice-cream treat.
Shotover River Jet — whoa! Adrenaline rush!!
Again, all under blue, cloudless skies and breathtaking vistas.
More later!
Love to all,
TJ
